These students will need to pass an examination administered by the School. The Zhizhen School will admit talented students in Mathematical Sciences who have or have not taken the respective regional or national examinations for the University’s General Admission Requirements to the Articulated Bachelor of Science – Ph.D. Programme in Mathematical Sciences.

Entrance Examination

There will be three papers covering Mathematical Analysis, Linear Algebra and Group Theory, as well as foundational university-level Physics. Each paper will have a duration of two hours. Candidates who pass the entrance examination will be invited to attend an admission interview.

Admission Interview

The admission interview covers mathematical ability and English proficiency test.

Admission offer

Applicants with exceptional performance in both admission examination and interviews conducted by the School will be invited to apply for admission through non-JUPAS admission channels of CUHK. A shortlisted applicant who have not taken the respective regional or national examinations for the University’s General Admission Requirements will receive a conditional offer which requires the applicant to complete a series of preparatory courses, offered by the School in order to bridge the gap between high school and university studies.

Candidates’ learning attitude and adaptability of university study will be assessed during the preparatory courses. Admission offers will be granted to candidates with satisfactory performance.
